Thoughts on not attending fire signals.

Thoughts on Hampshire F & RS's decision not to attend AFD signals without a 999 call.

Ignoring an AFD signal and awaiting back up from 999 calls are fraught with danger. If there is a fire in the buildinig, the time taken to ascertain this fact by persons seeing flames/smoke issuing from the building could be the difference between being successful or not in saving that property.

From a Life Safety perspective; it is a known fact that some F&RS's gave/give advice to physically check before dialing 999.

This was done at Rosepark Care Home and 14 elderly residents lost their lives. The Inquest Summery will highlight this failing and it should never happen again.

Dial 999 every time the fire alarm actuates. If it is discovered that it is a false alarm, another call can be made leaving just 1 Fire Tender to attend.

Ignoring AFD signals is a disaster waiting to happen. What is the actual cost benifit in doing this compared to the potential property and life loss?

I hope I don't have to come back on here and say "I told you so."
